SMALL STORY

It started with one day

of watching someone work.

This was around July, 2018. I had recently graduated and was teaching myself design.

I learned Photoshop, watched tutorials, followed along with whatever I could find online, and designed some average designs. But I was learning, experimenting, and slowly convincing myself that, yes, I could design.

Luckily, I got placed at a small company where I had to design websites.

On my first day, I managed to design just the landing page. Meanwhile, a senior designer on the team had designed the entire website before lunch.

The next day, my boss gave me a simple task:

“Sit beside the senior designer full day. Observe how he works, and ask as many questions as you can.”

“Sit beside the senior designer full day. Observe how he works, and ask as many questions as you can.”

And honestly, I can't tell you how much I learned that one day just by watching.

That single day taught me more than the previous six months of tutorials, listening, and figuring things out on my own.

Though, I stayed at the company for only four days, but that experience stayed with me. It made me realise that sometimes, the best way to learn isn't to listen to someone for an hour.

It's to work alongside them.

And that's why I'm launching a small experiment:

Buddy as a Service

A chance to observe, ask, think, design, build, and learn alongside someone experienced.

OBSERVE

WORK TOGETHER

LEARN BY DOING

Don’t just learn from me.

Work with me.

Forget another 60-minute mentorship session. Become my buddy for a while. We'll work together, brainstorm together, review work, share ideas, and learn from each other. (Not my day-to-day company work, but what I’m building on the side, what I’m learning, experimenting with, and exploring.)

No fixed curriculum. Just you, me, and the work.

🤝 Working with a human is still a moat.

This isn't mentorship. It's working together.

What we can actually do together.

Think together

Brainstorm ideas, solve problems, design together, question assumptions, and think through difficult problems.

Show the messy parts

Most people only see the polished case study. They don't see the 17 iterations before it, the bad ideas, dead ends, messy Figma files and decisions that didn't work. I want to show those parts too.

Teach me something too

I want to know what younger designers are building, caring about, and where the world is heading.

Steal my frameworks

The frameworks, strategies, resources and mental models I actually use. Not the theoretical ones in a presentation.

Make your work better

Bring a product, portfolio, case study, side project or crazy idea. We'll refine it together.

Ask anything

Feedback, problems, mock interviews, or simply: “How would you approach this?

Just unlimited questions.

Keep moving

Sometimes the biggest problem isn't knowledge. It's momentum. We'll keep each other curious and moving, and inspired

Build something together

Maybe a product. Maybe a problem. Maybe something completely unexpected. Who knows?

Anything missed from the above list?

Don't worry, we can cover those things as well..

Why can I be your buddy?

I’m learning, building, and figuring things out too. Here’s what I can bring to the table.

8 Years in Product Design

Experience you can learn from

I’ve been working in product design for the past 8 years, across different products, domains, teams, and problems.

Think in Systems

Logic meets design

My engineering background helps me think rationally, understand systems, and break complex problems into smaller, workable pieces.

Always Learning

Books are part of my toolkit

I love reading about product, design, business, growth, and biographies. I’m always collecting ideas worth sharing.

Build to Learn

Side projects are my favourite research

I like turning ideas into small things, experimenting with them, and learning by actually building.

Exploring What’s Next

AI, products, and everything in between

These days, I’m exploring AI, product ownership, product management, and how products grow. There’s a lot to figure out, and I’m enjoying the process.

Share What I Learn

Learning gets better when you share it

I write blogs, share knowledge on mentorship platforms, and document what I’m learning. If something helps me, I’m happy to pass it on.

So... how does this actually work?

01

Tell me about yourself

A short form about who you are, what you’re working on and what you want to learn.

02

See if we’re a good fit

A short conversation to figure out what you want from the experience.

03

Pick our rhythm

We decide when we work together. One or two sessions a week, flexible to the work.

04

Work together

We brainstorm. We design. We review. We question. We build. We learn. And repeat.

A WORKING RELATIONSHIP

More than advice. Someone beside you.

Why Price It?

People don't always value free things. At least, I don't. When I pay for something, I'm usually more committed to showing up, putting in the effort, and actually learning.

So, there’s a small contribution, but it’s completely negotiable. If you genuinely want to learn, let’s figure out something that works for both of us.

And we can always put it back into your learning, through books, courses, tools, or resources.

Main objective is to:

01. Filter out the fake learners.
02. Create a little commitment.
03. Reinvest in your learning.
04. Learn and build something meaningful together.

So… should we work together?
Let's connect and find out!

Tell me a little about yourself. What are you working on? What would you like to learn? And what would you love for us to work on together?

Not sure if Buddy as a Service is right for you, or have a few questions? No worries. Let’s connect 1:1 and figure it out together.
